NOTE: 

NO HALL PASS USE FOR 6TH PERIOD UNTIL 

FURTHER NOTICE (PROBABLY MONDAY)

Some people have been abusing hall pass privileges. This must stop. Remember, you may only use the hall pass for 2-3 minutes and are limited to twice per six weeks. Starting Monday, you will have to write time out and time in on the Hall Pass Sign Out sheet. Your first AND last name must be written and the handwriting must be very legible. 

HOMEWORK due. (Paraphrase the "Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo" speech (page 349, lines 34-50). Your version must have the same number of lines.)

Copy the following words, definitions, and example sentences. 5 points. 

Entreat--to beg someone to do something 
The prince entreated the villagers to stop fighting.

Peril--danger
Malvolio was in peril when he faught with Tybalt

Enmity--hostile to someone
The Montagues and the Capulets had an enmity that had lasted for years.

Perjury--lying in court
If you lie to the judge you will be committing perjury

Idolatry--extreme worship of something
Romeo didn't just love Juliet; his love was so extreme it was idolatry

Rancor--bitterness toward someone
Even though Juliet was supposed to hate Romeo, she felt no rancor toward him.

Alliance--a union or association formed for mutual benefit 
Friar Lawrence sided with Juliet and formed an alliance of sorts against her parents.
Optional Challenge: Write 5 sentences of your own using words in context.

Here's a valuable resource for Romeo and Juliet. It's the entire play with a modern translation on the side (two columns). It really helps. I recommend that you read through the summary as homework and then we'll read the original in class every day.
