Journal--Write 1 paragraph:
Which is worse: to lie to a parent and say that you don't have a quiz, or to cheat on the quiz?
(don't feel like you have to say that cheating is bad! Pretend you're talking about someone else)
Write a minimum of 4 sentences
1. Topic sentence
2. Example
3. Explanation
4. Conclusion
*It really helps to add a couple of sentences to make a paragraph more powerful. For example, you could start by saying . . .
Read the Cyclops story in The Odyssey, pages 686-698 and then answer questions 1-6 found on page 698. These questions stay in your notebook with the questions from the first two chapters.
Then draw a picture that illustrates part of that chapter. Try to come up with an original picture (not just the blinding of the Cyclops scene, for example).
If you've missed class anytime during the last week, be sure to answer the question for the first two chapters from The Odyssey (pages 684 and 686).
Also, you always need to be sure to check the blog to find the vocabulary for the week.
Remember, you have a vocab test Friday

"We Real Cool" by Gywendolyn Brooks
We real cool.
We Left school.
We Lurk late.
We Strike straight.
We Sing sin.
We Thin gin.
We Jazz June.
We Die soon.
Icarus "about me" assignment.
Using the template provided, make a collage representing you. As a starting point, refer to all of the things that you wrote in your journal: "I Am"
After you've done that, think a bit more about what kind of person you are. Then select a magazine from the table at the front of the room, grab a pair of scissors, and start finding pictures, words, parts of pictures, parts of words, colors, etc. that you'd like to glue to your collage.
One extra thing that you should consider doing is finding a quote somewhere that helps us understand who you are and writing it over part of the collage.
This is a creative assignment, so you might think of other ways to improve your collage so that it expresses who you are (applying some paint, for example).
20 points, due Monday
